Über das Kunstwerk

Sarah Graham’s surreal and abstract works depict the mystery of the plant kingdom and demonstrate the artist’s search for some form of spiritual meaning. Concentrating on line and form, her works have a unique visual language which she conjures up by working without the original source material, enabling her “to bestow its parts with an individual figurative detachment and suggestiveness”. The kraken is a legendary sea monster of gigantic size and cephalopod-like appearance – its long tentacles have been evoked in the mind of the artist after observing the untended plant that has grown out of control.
