Die japanische Künstlerin Chiharu Shiota wurde 1972 in Osaka geboren. Ob als Skulptur, Installation oder Gemälde, Shiota kreiert eine komplexe Matrix aus ineinander verwickeltem Garn. Konsequent verwendet sie hierfür die Farben Rot und Schwarz, wobei Schwarz den Kosmos repräsentiert und Rot an das zirkulierende Blut des Körpers erinnert, welches sie als inneres Sonnensystem interpretiert. Über das Kunstwerk

The Japanese born installation and performance artist, Chiharu Shiota, is most celebrated for her intertwining spools of thread that form intricate matrixes of material. For the artist the colour red is connected to people, recalling blood and the body which form an internal solar system. Conjuring a mood of cellular human life and its symbiotic relationship to the cosmos, her work resonants with memory and human relationships, through an unfathomable interlacing of the physical with the conceptual.
